Potato-Apple Hash browns
I simply went to food heaven after eating this, and you will to.
Serves: 5
5 Idaho potatoes, peeled
1/3 c. - 1 Tbsp. Vegetable oil
5 Granny Smith Apples, cored and peeled
Himalayan Salt and Freshly cracked pepper (to taste)
salsa (to garnish)- Optional
Directions:
1. Shredded potatoes into a large size mixing bowl filled with cold water. mix until the water looks cloudy, drain and cover potatoes with fresh clean cold water. stirring to make sure you get all the starch off. Drain potatoes good, and pat with a paper towel, or a brown paper bag. And squeeze any excess moisture.
2. In a clean large size mixing bowl shredded apples filled with cold water, and lemon juice so the apples do not oxidize. Drain apples well, following the rest of step one direction.
3. Combine Potatoes and apples together.
4. Heat a dutch oven skillet with vegetable oil, on medium-high heat. Sprinkle Potatoes and Apple mixture into the pan and season.
5. cook the potato-apple mixture until you see a brown color formation on the bottom, giving it about 5 minutes. repeat the same process on the other side for about 5 minutes.
